Malcesine

On the north-eastern shore, Malcesine boasts a delightful mix of twisting alleyways and bustling, flower-strewn squares. Visit the 13th-century castle, or take the funicular ride to the summit of Monte Baldo.

Riva del Garda

Famous Riva, at the lake's northern tip, has a busy historic centre surrounded by elegant, pastel-painted buildings. A good selection of cafes, gelaterie, bars, restaurants and shops make it one of the lake's most popular spots.

Itinerary

Day One

Fly to Italy and transfer to your chosen hotel.

Day Two

Today's optional Grand Circular Tour of the lake, by coach and steamer, is the perfect way to enjoy the area's marvellous scenery and to explore some of the delightful lakeside resorts. Each section of the shoreline has its own distinctive charm and allure.

Day Three

Today we head to "fair Verona", the historic backdrop for the tragic tale of "Juliet and her Romeo", and home to the opera season held yearly in its Roman amphitheatre , a performance of which will be the undoubted highlight of your holiday. Explore, then perhaps take a seat in an open-air cafe in Piazza Bra to watch the world go by.

This evening, after a chance to enjoy dinner (payable locally), take your seat in Verona's mighty Roman amphitheatre and soak up the atmosphere as darkness falls and the stage is set for the performance of your chosen opera. One of the greatest stages in Italy, the Verona Opera Festival provides what is sure to be an experience you'll treasure forever.

Day Four

Spend the day relaxing at the hotel or exploring the surrounding area.

Day Five

Venice is quite simply one of the world's most beautiful cities. Discover its mysterious labyrinth of alleys and waterways, spectacular St Mark's Square and Cathedral, the clock tower, the Doge's Palace, the Rialto Bridge and the mystique of the Palace of Prisons and the Bridge of Sighs, on our fascinating optional excursion.

This evening, over a farewell dinner in the hotel, reflect on the wonderful memories of the past few days.

Day Six

Transfer back to the airport for check-in and your flight home.

Please note that on the 11th July departure, the visit to Verona and the opera performance take place on Day Four of the holiday. The Venice excursion will be offered on Day Three, with the day in the resort on Day Five.

Ticket upgrades

The price of your package includes an un-numbered 'Gradinata' ticket on the stone 'steps' at the high point of the arena. It is possible to upgrade to numbered 'Gradinata' ticket at the arena sides, or seats in the 'Poltrone' stalls for a supplement.
