City Information
Walking is definitely the best option in Rome, but there is a limited metro service and an efficient bus system (just don't expect to get anywhere quickly). The main tourist information office is on Via Parigi, near the main Termini station, but our representative will also be available to point you in the right direction.
Itinerary
Day One
Fly to Rome and transfer to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you may have time to stroll the gardens of the Villa Borghese, Rome's most famous open space and home some of the city's most priceless ancient and modern art collections.
Day Two
Join our optional guided tour today for an excellent introduction to the city. From the ancient Forum to the Spanish Steps and legendary Fontana di Trevi, there's an enormous amount to see. Explore the museums on the Capitoline Hill, gaze up at the Pantheon from the world-famous Piazza Navona and soak up "la dolce vita" in a pavement cafe.
Day Three
A full day for you to explore Rome at your leisure. A city blessed with ancient and medieval history, stunning architecture and plenty of designer shops, has more than enough to keep any mind satisfied. This evening relax in your hotel with the help of your free bar.
Day Four
Spend your final few hours in Rome shopping or sightseeing, then transfer to the airport for check-in and your flight home.
Further Information
Wining and dining
Rome is the home of the panini, but this culinary capital has more to offer than 'food to go'. Relax in a cafe or trattoria, or enjoy ice cream in a traditional gelatarie. Come evening, savour the unique Roman cuisine of pasta, hearty meat dishes, fish and - of course - pizza.
South of the city, the vineyards of Frascati produce acceptable wines, but in the city a much wider range of Italian vintages is available, especially in the fast-multiplying enoteche (wine bars).
Shopping
Romans claim to be amongst the world's smartest citizens, and it is no surprise to find that clothes and accessories, especially shoes, are abundantly available. Don't miss the chance to check out the sumptuous showrooms of Valentino, the city's most famous fashion house, just off the Piazza de Espana, or to window shop on the Via Condotti, then seek out bargains on the Via del Corso.
Nightlife
If you have any energy left after your sightseeing, Rome lives up to its reputation as a ritzy, over-dressed and 'posy' after-dark city, with no shortage of clubs and discos to suit most pockets, most opening and closing late.
