Explore Portugal's 'Green Coast'
Stay in a four-star beachside hotel on an 'all-inclusive' basis. Spend lazy days enjoying all the many facilities of the popular Axis Ofir Beach Resort Hotel, explore Oporto on our included tour, and discover the exquisite Port wine-producing valley of the Douro and the hidden secrets of the 'Green Coast' on our programme of optional excursions.
Single rooms are available for a supplement
Wonderful Ofir is a very quiet seaside resort in the stunningly beautiful Minho region. Known as the Costa Verde (Green Coast), this part of Portugal is remarkably unspoilt - full of lush countryside, rivers and vineyards. The area has a natural charm and beauty, and the sweeping bays along the coastline provide the basis for a scenic relaxing break.
Fly to Oporto and transfer to your hotel (approximately 45 minutes).
Today has been left free so that you have time to explore the resort and its surrounds.
Today's full day optional excursion takes us to Oporto. The ancient, time-weathered city clings haphazardly to the hillsides above the beautiful River Douro. During the day there will also be a visit to one of the famous wine lodges, and an optional boat trip will also be available.
Another free day in which to explore your hotel and resort.
On today's optional excursion you'll explore the beautiful Port wine-producing valley of the River Douro, travelling east to Regua. Here you'll visit the wine lodge of Qunita do Castelinho to learn about the processes of growing, harvesting, fortification, maturing and storing of Port. You'll even have time to sample and purchase port directly from the producers.
Our optional excursion today unveils the delights of the Costa Verde. The day will offer a glimpse of life as lived by the fishermen and seaweed gatherers of the area. Visit cheerful, colourful, elegant Viana do Castelo, a coastal resort, set on the northern bank of the Rio Lima, where you'll find Renaissance houses and palaces, fine beaches and a beautifully preserved old town.
Bid farewell to this beautiful part of the world by joining our optional dinner at a traditional 'fiesta' at the celebrated Quinta da Malafaia, where regional specialities are washed down with champarreao (cinnamon wine) and sangria. Enjoy traditional dancing and - at the evening's end - a tumultuous firework display.
Transfer back to the airport for check-in and your flight home.
