Sleigh bells in the snow
Join us in America's "winter wonderland" for a 'White Christmas' you'll never forget. Spend the 'Holiday Season' enjoying roaring log fires, fine food and good cheer, surrounded by the snow-covered hills of New England, the pristine forests of Vermont and the festive atmosphere of bustling New York, historic Boston and elegant Newport, Rhode Island.
Single rooms are available for a supplement
Fly to New York, and transfer by coach to your overnight hotel in midtown Manhattan, New York.
Today we make the short journey into Manhattan, the beating heart of the 'city that never sleeps'. Join the shoppers on Fifth Avenue, perhaps don skates at the Rockefeller Center's famous ice-rink, or enjoy our optional guided city tour to discover the sights and sounds of the Big Apple.
This afternoon you'll head north to Sturbridge, Massachusetts, and your second hotel.
Today you'll travel through the idyllic New England countryside to call at South Deerfield's Yankee Candle Village before heading to the famous Vermont resort of Stowe. You'll arrive in the one-time home of the real Von Trapp Family (of 'Sound of Music' fame) in time for dinner and the start of our two-night stay at an idyllic 'holiday' inn.
You won't just be dreaming of a 'White Christmas' as you wake on Christmas morning. Spend a relaxing day opening presents and enjoying the comforts of your hotel, or venture out into the snow for skiing, skating, snowshoeing, tobogganing and sleigh rides (equipment rental, insurance and entrances all payable locally). The hotel restaurant will be open for lunch, and this evening you'll be treated to a traditional New England Christmas Dinner.
Soak up the festive atmosphere as you journey into a day in the 1830s at Old Sturbridge Village where the 'Spirit of the Season' festival - all hot cider, gingerbread and locally produced crafts and Christmas trinkets - bustles amid the village's 40 restored original buildings. Re-board the coach for the short journey to the great city of Boston.
Join our optional guided tour to discover the distinguished history of a city where the gold-domed State House overlooks the Common upon which America's Founding Fathers once strolled.
Later shop in famous Quincy Market, or join our optional excursion to Wrentham's Factory Outlets Mall. Here the combination of designer labels at lower than high street prices and the fact that Massachusetts has no sales tax on clothing means that your money will go a surprisingly long way.
Visit 'billionaires' playground', Newport, Rhode Island. Here, in America's smallest state, elegant sophistication is everywhere. Drive past the former summer homes of the likes of the Astors and Vanderbilts before we continue to New York and head to the airport to board the flight home.
Arrive back home, after an overnight flight.
British Citizens travelling to the USA now have to register online with US Immigration at least 72 hours before departure. We will send you the details you will need to complete your online registration, along with your tickets, about two weeks prior to travel. A charge of $14US per person applies to this process.
Smoking is not permitted on any coach forming part of your holiday; regular stops will be made though for your comfort en route. The majority of hotels in North America are non-smoking throughout including in all bedrooms. In general smoking outside is acceptable, but do look out for signs prohibiting this close to public entrances or bus stops.
Gratuities are a way of life in North America, and it is generally accepted that they form part of a person's earnings. Customary gratuity to a coach driver or tour manager is about $3 per person per day; in a taxi or a restaurant leave 12-15 per cent of the bill and, in the bar, leave a dollar or so per drink.
