Cannes is very inch the resort city, its world famous promenade, La Croisette, lined on one side by grand palais-hotels, and on the other by private beaches. Above the ancient harbour from which the city grew, the charming Old Town of Le Suquet surveys a beautiful scene of blue waters dotted with pleasure craft.
Fly to Nice and transfer to Cannes (journey approximately 45 minutes). After check-in you're free to explore. Soak up the elegant atmosphere as you stroll along La Croisette.
Today's included full-day excursion takes us first to fashionable St Raphael. Originally a fishing village, this is an ideal place to enjoy a simple lunch, perhaps the catch of the day or traditional bouillabaisse (fish stew), before we continue, past the great Roman town of Frejus, to fabled St Tropez.
Wander along the harbour, where the yachts and motor yachts - some merely large, others simply enormous - tie up, and sit at a pavement cafe to 'people watch' in this pretty port made famous by the original 1960s jet set.
Rest and relax today, or join our optional full-day excursion along the breathtaking Moyenne Corniche to Monaco, the exclusive Monte Carlo, 'playground to the stars'. Try your luck in the famous Casino, wander the harbour, with its array of luxurious yachts, and catch a glimpse of the grand Palais Princier.
Today's optional full-day excursion takes you into the Esterel hills, the Riviera's fragrant hinterland of hilltop villages and medieval towns, to picturesque Grasse, renowned as the 'perfume capital of the world'. Walk the jumbled streets of its old town, and visit the famed perfume factories.
Moving on, we'll take a short, scenic drive to the spectacular Gorges du Loup, a 12-kilometre 'grand canyon' complete with plunging waterfall, and on to the fortified village of St Paul de Vence. Visit the renowned Fondation Maeght museum of modern art (payable locally), or stroll the streets of this perfectly preserved medieval village.
Spend a final day basking in the sunshine, or join our half-day optional excursion to Nice. Stroll on the famous Promenade des Anglais, or perhaps join the sun-worshippers on the beach. On your return, enjoy a stop in beautiful Antibes, with its narrow streets, and experience spectacular views from the Cap d'Antibes.
In the afternoon, sit back and enjoy our optional boat trip from Cannes to the beautiful nearby Ile Sainte-Marguerite, the largest of the Lerins islands.
Transfer back to the airport for check-in and your flight home.
One of the greatest pleasures in this part of the world is the opportunity to have lunch or dinner Provencal-style. With regional specialties such as fresh fish, bouillabaisse, peppers, olives, garlic and fine 'vin rose', this really is foodie heaven!
