Modern life and modern art in the Catalan capital
A guided tour and a friendly, professional tour manager who will bring to life this wonderful place, as well as included transfers and a choice of excellent hotels, make this break the very best way to see Gaudi's magnificent city.
Single rooms are available for a supplement
Since the 1992 Olympics, this has become one of Europe's must-see destinations. Famous for its Art Nouveau buildings, its shopping, its nightlife, its tapas and above all for its style, the Catalan capital has everything. You'll love it!
Fly to Barcelona and transfer to your hotel (approximately 40 minutes). Get your bearings, take a stroll, and perhaps head out for dinner. Why not head for the Barri Gotic, where there's a wide choice of restaurants to suit all tastes? Our Tour Manager will point you in the right direction.
After our included tour introduces the city, you're free to explore. Stroll down La Rambla, wander the huge Boqueria market and see Gaudi's magnificent Palau Guell and the Liceu opera house before heading down to modern Port Vell, which is overlooked by the 200-foot Columbus Monument.
As you explore today, find time to visit the ancient Royal Palace and the cloisters and fountains of the Gothic cathedral. Afterwards, explore the Museu Picasso or catch a cable car to the Olympic Stadium on Montjuic. And, of course, no visit would be complete without seeing Gaudi's awe-inspiring La Sagrada Familia.
Alternatively, if you're a football fan (and perhaps even if you're not), join our optional excursion to the famed Camp Nou. Our wonderful tour takes in every corner of the impressive 99,000 seater stadium; including the presidential box, press area, changing rooms, the 'tunnel' and the pitch, from where one can marvel at the sheer size and splendour of this 'five star stadium'.
Transfer back to the airport for check-in and your flight home.
Barcelona has stores to satisfy even the most dedicated shopaholic! Start at El Corte Ingles on Placa de Catalunya, then head north for style and sophistication, or south into the Old Town for leather goods, ceramics and antiques.
Food is one of Barcelona's great pleasures. Don't miss the fish stew - zarzuelas - and paella on offer in Barceloneta and Port Vell. For tapas, head to the Passeig de Gracia. Spend an evening drifting from bar to bar, grabbing a snack and a drink at each. With so many dishes on offer it's worth being adventurous.
Barcelona is a city that never sleeps. Many trendy bars and discos, as well as more traditional 'bars musicals', bodegas and cerveserias, stay open all night - especially in the Gracia area. So you can easily dance the night away.
