Resort Information
This holiday is based beside the beautiful Bay of Naples, where exquisite towns and villages cling to the hillsides, overlooking the water in picture-postcard perfection.
Sorrento
Perched upon its cliff-top, Sorrento seems built between the sky and the sea. Its beating heart is the Piazza Tasso. In the evenings its bars and cafes become the perfect base from which to watch the locals enjoying the passeggiata down the stylish Corso Italia and through the maze of alleyways.
Sant' Agata
Just six miles from Sorrento, Sant' Agata del Due Golfi enjoys stunning views of both the Bay of Naples and the Bay of Salerno. The village, with its small selection of shops, bars and restaurants, is especially popular with those who prefer the cooler, quieter evenings to the the bustle of the main resort.
Day By Day - Our Wonderful Holiday
During your stay, you can choose to join a selection of great-value excursions to many places of interest.
Day One
Outward travel from your selected airport to Italy, and onward transfer to your hotel.
Day Two
Spend the day relaxing at the hotel or exploring the surrounding area. Our Tour Manager will be happy to suggest places to visit and things to do.
Day Three
This morning's highlight is our optional, half-day tour of Roman Pompeii. Buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in A.D.79 and forgotten for hundreds of years, Pompeii was rediscovered in the 18th Century. Since then, excavations have gradually revealed the city's magnificent villas, temples and frescoed houses.
Day Four
On today's optional excursion we cross to Capri, the magical 'Isle of Dreams'. Enjoy the spectacular views from Villa San Michele in Anacapri; take a chair-lift to the summit of Solare (payable locally); and visit the island's main town to shop - or more likely window-shop - at the host of exclusive designer stores.
Day Five
Our optional excursion today takes us to Rome. Enjoy a guided tour of the ancient Colosseum and Forum, the great basilicas and the Baroque fountains. In the Vatican City, the dome of St Peter's looks over the vast Square, while a visit to the nearby Sistine Chapel will reveal Michelangelo's fabled frescoes.
Day Six
With its immense cliffs and dizzy bridges spanning deep gorges, the Amalfi Drive is among Europe's most scenic coast roads. Experience the unforgettable view above Positano's colourful Moorish-style houses, and visit beautiful Amalfi and Ravello, with its alleys, stairways and roofed passages clinging to the mountainside, on this final optional excursion.
Day Seven
Another day at leisure to relax in the hotel or explore the surrounding area.
Day Eight
Transfer back to the airport for check-in and your flight home.
Further Information
Wining and dining
Sorrentine cooking features fresh fish, vegetables and fruit - especially sweet cherry tomatoes and succulent oranges - as well as the typically Italian pastas, soups and meat dishes. The region's countless vineyards mean there are many excellent, well-priced local wines to enjoy.
Guests on half-board arrangements will generally be offered a choice of starter and main course, with fruit or dessert to follow. If you get the chance, eat al fresco at one of the restaurants in Marina Grande, and then stroll through the streets with an ice cream from one of the many gelaterie.
Entrance fees
Some of the attractions visited on our optional excursions offer free admission to visitors aged under 18 or over 65, therefore we do not include entrance fees within the excursion's price. If appropriate, these will be payable locally.
Transfer Times
The transfer time from the airport to your hotel is approximately one hour from Naples and four hours from Rome.
