Fly to Edinburgh where you'll be met by our Tour Manager. After our short city tour, on which you'll see Jenners - the oldest department store in the world - the Castle, St Giles Cathedral, the Princes Street Gardens, the Sir Walter Scott monument and the Royal Mile, you'll be free to explore and have lunch before we continue to our hotel, arriving in time for dinner.
This morning we set off for a full day in the Trossachs, an outstandingly beautiful and history-steeped area of mountains, lochs, rivers and woods. We'll stop in Inveruglas, on the western shore of Loch Lomond, and board a cruiser for an hour-long voyage up to Tarbet, passing Rob Roy's cave.
At Inverglas we'll re-board our coach and head to Callander, known to millions as the 'Tannochbrae' of the TV series 'Dr Finlay's Casebook'.
Today we head north to the Highlands, stopping in Pitlochry before we visit Blair Castle, the magnificent former home of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl (entry payable locally). Its treasure-filled rooms present a vivid picture of Scottish history, and its vast grounds, including the recently restored Hercules Gardens, never fail to impress. From here we'll continue to our next hotel in plenty of time for dinner.
Discover the mysteries of whisky making, and sample a 'wee dram', on this morning's guided tour of a distillery. Later we'll continue to Aviemore where you're free to explore, though you may wish to join our optional excursion on the Cairngorm Mountain Railway, the UK's longest funicular, which is renowned for its magnificent views.
Today we head to mysterious Loch Ness, where you can explore the question of Nessie's existence at the Loch Ness Exhibition Centre, or board the Royal Scot for out optional monster-spotting cruise.
Later we'll visit thriving Inverness itself. Shop and explore, or perhaps head to the the excellent, new visitor centre at nearby Culloden, scene of the last major battle fought on mainland Britain (entry payable locally), before we return to our hotel.
Transfer back to Edinburgh for your return flight home. Depending on your flight time, you may be able to visit the city's excellent museums and art galleries, or the lanes and wynds of the famous Royal Mile, before we head to the airport at the end of what promises to have been a really memorable holiday.
